An opportunity has now been made available for you to apply for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship. 

The Tennessee Promise scholarship is both a scholarship and mentoring program that gives you access to study at any of the Tennessee Promise institutions in the United States of America.

The scholarship provides a last-dollar opportunity that covers tuition and other fees not covered by other scholarships available for Tennessee students. ( scholarships like Pell Grant, Hope and TSAA).

The Tennessee Promise Scholarship aims to help brilliant and exceptional students who graduate from high school to gain admission to colleges/ Tennessee Promise institutions.

The scholarship only covers full-time Associate degree programs; those undergoing part-time or online distance learning programs are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Tennessee scholarship offers a lot of financial aid and support, enabling you to start and complete your study program without any financial burden.

The amount this scholarship covers varies based on the remaining tuition and mandatory fees after all other gift aids have been given.

The scholarship is highly competitive. To scale through the screening process and win the scholarship, you must meet all the requirements and possess the required documentation.

Eligibility Requirements for Tennessee Promise Scholarship 

To apply for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria: 

  1. Nationality: The scholarship is majorly available to US citizens.
  2. State of residence: You must be someone who resides in Tennessee to be able to apply for this scholarship 
  3. High School Graduate: You must Graduate from a Tennessee high school or home school.
  4. Certification: You are also eligible for this scholarship if you have a GED or HiSET certificate before your 19th birthday
  5. Admission: You must currently be a bonafide student of any of the Tennessee Promise institutions.
  6. Community participation: You must participate in eight hours of community service before being able to receive the scholarship.
  7. Attend a meeting: You must attend a compulsory Tennessee promise meeting. 

How to Apply for Tennessee Promise Scholarship 

The following guidelines and procedures will aid you in applying for this scholarship 

  1. Visit Scholarship Portal: Visit the scholarship portal and create an account using your email address and a desired password.
  2. Read Instructions: Read the instructions very carefully and agree to the terms and conditions before proceeding to the next stage 
  3. Choose Scholarship Program: Several scholarship programs are available in the application portal; you are to choose the  “ Tennessee Promise Scholarship.”
  4. Fill out the Application form: You are to fill the application form starting from your personal information down to your parents/guardian’s details 
  5. Select Institution: Select your Tennessee institution of study.
  6. Select Course of Study: You are to select your course of study.
  7. Upload Document: Upload the required documents needed for the program 
  8. Submit: Review your application to make any corrections and submit

For you to get admitted to the University of Tennessee, you need a core GPA of 3.5

How do I regain my Tennessee Promise Scholarship?

You can regain your Scholarship if you have a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and engage in eight hours of Community Service.

Final Thought 

Tennessee Promise Scholarship began in the fall of 2015 by Gov. Bill Hallam.

You can use this scholarship in any state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, and any other tertiary institutions offering an associate’s degree program.

The 2024 Tennessee scholarship application is scheduled to commence from August 1, 2024, to November 1, 2024; you are advised to apply early for your application to be reviewed on time.

Once your application is completed, a confirmation message will be displayed; you will also receive a notification in your email address. 

At the end of the application deadline, partnering organizations will contact you to assign mentors and provide information about the mandatory meeting dates and other requirements.

You can also apply for the Tennessee Promise scholarship as a non-US citizen by meeting other requirements and eligibility specifically meant for non-US citizens.

Some of these requirements are having an Arrival Departure record from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), being a US citizen, and having immigration services showing that you are a refugee, asylum granted, paroled, or conditional Haitian  Entrant.

You can also become eligible for this scholarship as a non Citizen if you have a T-Visa.
