Undergraduate Scholarships

The following are the lists of University of Ottawa Undergraduate Scholarships 

  1. University of Admission Scholarship: The University of Admission Scholarship amount ranges from $1,000- $3,000 and is available for all eligible full-time students. No application is required for this scholarship, and newly admitted students are automatically considered for this scholarship.
  2. French Studies Bursary: The French Studies Bursary is automatically given to full-time students who are admitted to a direct entry faculty or in the faculty of law, Civil Law section and are taking at least three courses each taught in French or two courses taught in French or have French as their second language. The scholarship amount for this scholarship is $1,000 per year 
  3. Bursaries for Postsecondary: This Scholarship was created to enable newly admitted students to learn French as a second language and promote bilingualism. The scholarship amount is valued at $3,000
  4. Professional Training Scholarship: This scholarship is automatically given to students who have excellent previous academic records and are fully enrolled in an undergraduate program in the faculty of law, Common law Section, the faculty of Education or Medicine, MD or PharmD program. The scholarship is valued at $1,000 
  5. Faculty of Social Sciences Dean’s Excellence Award: This scholarship is awarded to newly admitted students in the Faculty of Social Sciences. For you to be awarded this scholarship, you must have a minimum admission average of 92%. This scholarship is valued at $1,500
  6. Faculty of Engineering Memorial Scholarship: This Scholarship is awarded to seven female students, one from each engineering program except computer science. For you to be awarded this scholarship, you must have a minimum admission average of 80% and fulfill the scholarship requirements. The scholarship is valued at $2,000
  7. Indigenous Leadership Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to indigenous students with a high level of academic excellence and outstanding leadership skills. The scholarship is valued at $6,500 per year.
  8. Student Mobility Scholarship: This scholarship is provided to students each year to help them pay for their studies or internship abroad. The scholarship is valued at $1,000 per term.
  9. Differential Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship: This scholarship is available for newly admitted international Francophone and Francophile Students in French or French Immersion Stream. The amount for this scholarship varies according to the study program 
  10. Excellence Scholarship for African Students: This scholarship is for international students from African countries studying at the university.

Master’s Scholarship

The following is a list of University of Ottawa Master’s Scholarship:-

  1. Admission Scholarship: This is an automatic scholarship given to those admitted to the Master’s program and is valued at $7,500 per year.
  2. Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship: This scholarship is available for newly admitted international Francophone and Francophile Students in French or French Immersion Stream. The amount for this scholarship varies according to the study program.
  3. Special Merit Scholarship: The unique Merit Scholarship is automatically given to academically gifted and exceptional master’s degree students upon admission; the value and duration of the scholarship varies according to your program of study.
  4. Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS): This scholarship is given to the best graduating students in all academic fields of study. The scholarship is valued at a maximum of $15,000 ($5,000 per term) and must be held for two consecutive terms.

PhD Scholarship

  1. International Doctoral Scholarship: This scholarship provides financial support to international students who have recently been admitted for doctoral studies. The scholarship is valued at $45,000 for five years.
  2. Admission Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students newly admitted to the doctoral program. To qualify for this scholarship, you must have an admission average of 8.0/10 or higher.
  3. Special Merit Scholarship: The Special Merit Scholarship is automatically given to academically gifted and exceptional Doctoral students upon admission; the value and duration of the scholarship varies according to your program of study.
  4. Mítacs Globalink Fellowship: This is an external scholarship given to exceptional students.

Eligibility Requirements for Ottawa University Scholarships

To be able to apply for any of these scholarships listed above, you must meet the following requirements 

  1. Nationality:  You must be a  Canadian citizen or permanent resident or have sought refuge in Canada.
  2. Admission: You must be enrolled for a full-time study in bachelor, master’s, and PhD programs at Ottawa University 
  3. Admission Requirement: You must meet the admission requirements for any of your study programs.
