GKS Scholarship 2025
The Global Korean Scholarship (GKS) program for 2025 is now open to international students who want to study in Korea.
Global Korean Scholarship (GKS) offers international students an opportunity to study at top universities in Korea, thereby helping them pursue academic degrees while promoting global educational exchange and fostering strong bonds and relationships between Korea and participating countries.
The scholarship is awarded to those undergoing a bachelor and Associate degree program. The duration of the scholarship for the bachelor’s program is between 5-7 years while that of the Associate degree program is for 3-4 years.
Global Korean scholarship (GKS) is highly competitive, a total of 367 students from around the world will be invited to participate in the GKS 2025 scholarship for both Bachelor and associate degrees.
Out of these. 87 students will be selected through the embassy track while 280 students through the university track.
Global Korean scholarship (GKS) provides you with a lot of financial assistance which will help you study comfortably in any of the eligible universities in Korea, if you are awarded the scholarship, funds will be provided to cover tuition, accommodation, and all other academic expenses.

Eligibility Requirements of GKS Scholarship
To become eligible to apply for the 2025 GKS scholarship, you must meet the following requirements.
- Nationality: The scholarship is open to citizens of countries designated by the NIIED and invited to participate in the scholarship
- Educational qualification: the scholarship is open to students who have graduated or will graduate from high school or an associate degree program
- GPA Requirements: you must have an excellent academic record with a score percentile of 80% or higher on a 100-point scale or ranking in the top 20% in the class. You must also obtain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5 or 3.23/5.0
- Age: You must be above 25 years of age as of the time of application
- Health: You must be in good health before you can be awarded the scholarship

How to apply for gks scholarship
The GKS scholarship application can be done in two phases, the online application phase through the university track and the offline application phase through the embassy track.
Phase One: Online Application/ University Track Phase
- Visit the application portal: visit the website’s online application portal and create an account using your email address.
- Fill online form: Fill in the application form in the portal. This includes your personal and academic details.
- Select University: Make your selection from the list of available universities participating in the scholarship program.
- Select course of Study: You are to select the course you want to study in the program.
- Upload Documents: upload the necessary documents mentioned above.
Phase Two: Offline Application/ Embassy Track Phase
After submitting the online application form, in this phase, you are to submit all your uploaded documents to the Korean Embassy or to the domestic university you are applying for.
The Korean embassy reviews your credentials and sends them to the NIIED for evaluation and selection.

Final Thought
The application date and deadline for the 2025 GKS scholarship vary depending on the embassy or university of your choice, you must ensure you check for the deadline in your desired university before submitting your application.
When applying for the scholarship through the embassy track, you are allowed to select up to three universities or choosethree different departments with the same university, at least one of your selected universities must be a Type B university.
If you are applying through the university track, you are to select just one university. There are three rounds in the selection of the GKS scholarship, during rounds, you will be evaluated by both the embassy and the university.
After passing these three rounds you will need to get a medical certificate before you can be awarded the scholarship.
