The Russian Open Door Scholarship is designed for bright international students who want to pursue master’s or postgraduate studies in Russia for free.

Winners of the Russian Open Door Scholarship receive early admission to any Russian university without needing to take entrance exams. Additionally, their tuition fees are fully covered by the Russian government.

The Open Doors Russian Scholarship Program is back with four tracks, open to students applying for Undergraduate, Master’s, Doctoral, and Post-doctoral studies.

The Open Doors International Olympiad is starting for its eighth year! Winners can enroll for free in their selected Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programs at any Russian university. Those applying for the postdoctoral track can be employed as researchers in one of the offered projects.

For the Doctoral track, winners will have the chance to choose a research supervisor and go through an interview during the Olympiad. Postdoctoral track participants will be interviewed by project leaders.

The Olympiad consists of three rounds:

1. Portfolio Submission
2. Problem-Solving Challenge
3. Interview with a research supervisor for doctoral candidates.

This competition is open to international students and people without citizenship. Applicants for the Master’s program need to have or be finishing a Bachelor’s degree, and Doctoral track applicants need a Master’s degree or equivalent.

Open Doors Russian Scholarship Requirements 2025

To qualify for the 2025 Open Doors Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be foreign citizens or stateless individuals, including those living abroad.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree or be in their final year of Bachelor’s studies for the Master’s track.
• Hold a Master’s degree for the Doctoral track.
• Agree to the processing of personal data.
• Participate in one of the listed subject areas, which are tied to the programs offered by Russian universities.

The Open Doors Scholarship offers full financial support for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students, including tuition, and other related costs.

How to Apply for Open Doors Scholarship 2025 (Step-by-Step)

1. Register online through the Olympiad system between September 5 to November 20, 2024 (for undergraduates and postgraduates) or by December 10, 2024 (for postdoctoral applicants).
2. Go to the Olympiad website and click “SIGN UP” to start your application.
3. After registering, you will receive access to your personal account.
4. Provide your personal information and consent to the use of your data as per Russian laws.
5. Only one registration per participant is allowed, and having multiple accounts will result in disqualification.
6. After registering, you will receive information about the portfolio structure, evaluation criteria, and demo tasks for the second stage.
