Paul Evan Peters Scholarship

The Paul Evan Peters Scholarship is now open to all eligible and qualified candidates who are studying in the U.S.

Paul Evan Peters scholarship recognizes the most notable and lasting international achievements related to information technology and the use of information resources and services.

The scholarship is awarded biennially to students pursuing a graduate degree program in librarianship, information science, or closely related disciplines that advance the frontier of digital information and technology. 

Paul Evan Peters Scholarship will provide financial support and assistance throughout your study. 

Two individual scholarships are awarded separately in the Paul Evan Peters Scholarship Program.

The first scholarship is a doctoral scholarship given to students undergoing their doctoral degree program, an amount of $5,000 is awarded to selected students for this scholarship and covers up to two consecutive years. 

The second scholarship is a Master’s Scholarship awarded to students undergoing a Master’s degree program, an amount of $2,500 is awarded to selected students for this scholarship and covers up to two consecutive years.

High consideration will be given to applicants whose application credentials directly address the scholarship requirements and criteria.

Eligibility Requirements for Paul Evan Peters Scholarship

The following are the eligibility requirements for the Paul Evan Peters Scholarship.

1. Citizenship: The scholarship is only open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
2. Admission: You must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. university or a program that has received American Library Association (ALA) accreditation (including reciprocal), or one that is a member of the iSchools caucus.
3. Study Program: The Scholarship is for those undergoing their Master’s and Doctoral degree Programs.
4. Field of Study: The field of study for the Paul Evan Peters Scholarship is librarianship, information science, or closely related disciplines that advance the frontier of digital information and technology.
5. Ineligibility: Staff, Officers, and families of CNI, the Association of Research Libraries, and EDUCAUSE are not eligible to apply.
6. Academic Performance: The Paul Evan Peter scholarship is merit-based, for you to be selected for the scholarship, you must have an excellent academic record.

The Paul Evan Peters Scholarship was initiated in honor and perpetual memory of Paul Evan Peters (1947-1996) the founding executive director of a coalition of network information (CNI).

CNI was formed by the Association of Research Libraries, CAUSE, and Educom to foster the creation and use of networked information resources and services that advance scholarship and intellectual property.

The scholarship is offered jointly by the Association of Research Libraries, Coalition for Networked Information, and EDUCAUSE.

• Demonstrates a positive and lasting impact on scholarly communications through the implementation and/or use of information technology and networks, as evidenced by publication, the development of environments for the dissemination of information, contributions in the area of data stewardship, or other similar endeavors
• Addresses a specific problem fundamental to scholarship, research, and intellectual productivity and provides an innovative solution using information technology
• Helps increase awareness of the role of scholarly information and communication through the dissemination of effective techniques using computing and information technologies
